A scene from the stage musical "Chicago" based on the 1926 play. Written by Maurine Dallas Watkins, the reporter assigned to report on the 1924 trial of the accused murderesses, Beulah Annan and Belva Gaertner.
The plot buying is loosely based on a true story.
A musical by Bob Fosse and Fred Ebb, and is currently the worlds longest running American musical.
I have not seen a stage production or the film of the same name, but it is on my bucket list.
So what attracted me to paint this particular scene of the show? Well, I am not a lover of musicals as such, but I am attracted to the stage designs and how important the lighting, especially the spots, create the terrific atmosphere of the moment.
That said, I hope I have managed to create the atmosphere in my painting.
