The winter Olympic uniforms for Team USA featured this blue yarn in their sweaters. The yarn is merino, buying which means that it is a soft yarn that is easily worn next to the skin.
The white yarn is a blend of Suri alpaca, merino, and silk that was spun at Blue Mountain Fiber Mill. The suri alpaca came from a local farm in Harrisburg, PA. This yarn is soft, and durable making it an ideal choice to pair with the Olympic Blue yarn.
The weaving pattern is called a waffle because it forms little cells throughout the fabric. This allow for the texture of the yarns to be highlighted, and provide a unique depth to the finished piece.
