This is a charming, antique copy of "The Vicar of Wakefield" by Oliver Goldsmith. 1903; Adam & Charles Black; London. The book is nicely illustrated with 13 color plates by John Massey Wright (over each plate is a piece of descriptive tissue paper). Gilt top page edges. Also included in this copy is buying an essay by John Forster about the story.
Condition:
Clean covers and spine; sharp corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. The pages are in great condition - lightly age-toned but clean with only a 1" tear at the outer edge of the front end paper, and a 1/2" tear at the outer edge of page 29. There is a Christmas stamp and inscription written in pen dated 1913 on the front end paper...no other writing found. Bright gilt top page edges. Overall the book is in very good condition.
