This Rosary was made in Italy sometime between 1978-1985 and sold at a Vatican Gift Shop. It is accompanied by a lacy white rosary case composed of acrylic. It was originally part of an extensive Rosary Collection.
This is an unusual Rosary as it is composed of wired beads made of crushed rose petals. The beads are made by hand by Italian artisans. These beads are a rich black and still retain the faint smell of roses. This beautiful spiritual Rosary has a silver-tone crucifix crafted with stunning detail (see photos). It is also signed Italy.
The center station is quite interesting on one side is a beautiful depiction of the Virgin Mother and Child made in a classic Mid Century style. The other side there is John Paul II Vatican City Papal Coat of arms. This detail confirms the origins of this hand crafted Rosary.

This is buying a highly spiritual piece with some fascinating symbolism:
A rose has symbolic meanings in many religions, including Christianity and Catholicism. For Catholics, the rose serves as a symbol of the rosary, which Catholics use during prayer and also to commemorate several important events in Christ's life. In Christianity, the five petals of the rose symbolize all five of Christ's wounds from the crucifixion. The color of a rose also holds symbolic meaning. Typically, a white rose represents Christ's purity and a red rose represents Christ's sacrificial blood.
About John Paul II:
Pope John Paul II was the head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City State from 1978 until his death in 2005. He was elected pope by the second papal conclave of 1978, which was called after John Paul I, who had been elected in August to succeed Pope Paul VI, died after 33 days.
