These drawings where used to create the brass moulds used in the 1st mechanical type setting machine, the linotype machine, named so because it produced a line-of-type, revolutionising the printing industry becoming the industry standard for news paper printing and book publishing for the best part of a century.
These are the very same drawings featured on the Antiques Road Show 2013.
Each hand rendered letter form dates between the 1900s and the 1960s, all with the original date stamps, signatures and notations.
(The drawing are dated either with a Linotype & machinery stamp towards the top of the drawing or, after 1920 in the bottom left hand corner)
Our archive consists of an incredible range of fonts ... letters, numbers and annotations. So looking for initials, names, words or just for the love of design is quite a joy!

Each of the letter-forms is individual and differs from any other as they are all hand drawn.
Please note:
The drawings are at their most recent, 60 years old and at their oldest 120 years old and were used in an engineering environment, as such they show signs of age, ware, dirt, and the odd tear, if your really lucky the odd coffee mug stain. Please study the condition of the drawing in the photograph before purchasing.

UK postage will be by Royal Mail 1st class signed for and all others by royal mail tracked and signed.
