This is an amazing and rare 1950s vintage Americana diner cook's barbecue apron with some crazydoodle foodie humor! It's a full white cotton bib with an attached neck loop strap and waist ties, and awesome bold 50s Southern graphics all over in red, orange yellow and black. It says "Bar-B-Q Menu" across the top with a large chicken roasting in a fire. Fat pigs, kooky cows and various foods are shown with the best of bad 50s diner food puns. "Fresh Milk - 3 hours ago it was grass." "10,000 things to eat, all of them beans." "Eggs buying so fresh the hens haven't missed them yet." "Chicken with the feathers on, to tickle the palate." "Gravy to match any vest." And, inexplicably, "Our specialty, delicious spare rims," and "Spaghetti and moth balls." And much more!
It's in good clean condition, lightly used, with a couple of preserved food stains. Please see all the photos. One waist tie is also a bit shorter than the other. The graphics are vivid and bright, there are no holes or tears. It's a beauty, wear it or frame it. There is no maker's label. The measurements are:
Width: 26 inches,
Height (from top of bib to hem) - 35.5 inches,
Circular Neck Strap - 22 inches end to end,
Waist Ties - 17.5 inches and 22 inches.
For reference, the apron is modeled by Henry who is 5'11" tall and wears size Large.
