My Nalbinding hats have been on display at the Buxton Museum. Buxton is a market town in Derbyshire, England.

This hat will be warm, soft and awesome. This is from my handspun wool lightweight and warm. This hat is very stretchy so it will fit various sizes of heads.

I tell people if you need to wash it use a little dawn dish soap or soap for wool just a tad. Cool water, swish it around a little not to much, rinse in cool water, swish a little. Do not wring out, lay flat on towel, fold towel over it so it covers it and you can place walk on it to get extra water out. Do that a couple of times and they just lay flat to dry. You're not working in a coal mine with it so you can just use a little free-breeze if you want to freshen it up. Wool buying is micro antibacterial and warm in the Winter as well as cool in the Summer.

This hat is made with an ancient technique called nalbinding used by the vikings, Asia, Europeans and North Africa. It has also been found in Mayan temples. Nalbinding predates knitting.
It has been found as early as the Bronze and Early Iron Age cultures.

It has been described as Knotless netting, needle looping and detached buttonhole filling or simple looping. I use my own needle that I carved out of bone to make my hats. To nalbind you would use a single needle and your thumb. The Scandinavians use the term Nalbinding. The word Nal means needle and binding means stitching.

I spin and dye my own wool for my hats .

This hat is made in the Oslo stitch.

**Please note, this listing is for the nalbound hat only. Any jewellery pictured are for photography staging and are not included with the purchase.**
