These beautiful small serving dishes or raviers are part of an antique service I purchased at a professional brocante recently. They are a delightful pale / duck egg blue colour and each piece is monogrammed with R D. There are 34 pieces in total, dating to around 1900, some pieces have more signs of age and yuse than others. They all have a back stamp for the high end retailer in Paris who sold them, Vermont & Blanchet and their address, l'Avenue de l'Opera, which is in a very prestigious part of central Paris.

The elaborate back stamp also says 'importe', meaning the service was actually made elsewhere. It could have come from nearby Belgium who are also well known for their quality ceramics. Nimy, for example were a company specialising in high end ironstone.

Vermont and Blanchet were the retailer for the service in Paris, they would have sourced it for one of their wealthy clients who would have had the monogram especially printed. They would have chosen the font and likely the position of the monogram on the pieces in the service.

They have signs of age and wear, with tea staining and a few scrapes here and there. There are also a few small nicks here and there which are not very noticeable.

This is a pair of very versatile raviers or small serving dishes. They are a really good size for canapes and look very stylish.
