This double wall planter is a perfect option for your succulent, cactus, or bonsai tree. It has great drainage that you can monitor by looking at the well between the double walls. This planter has trees carved into the outer wall all around the planter.
This piece measures 2 5/16" high by 6 3/8" wide. It is a high fired stoneware clay with blue glaze. The inside wall measured 4 1/4" wide.
This planter has holes placed on buying the inside wall that allows excess water to go into the space between the two walls. No more guessing if your plant is too dry or too wet! It can be used for regular house plants, bulb forcing, succulents, cacti, and bonsai trees. Some people decide to use it for pillar candles or as a candy dish as well. The choice is yours.
The two walls are initially thrown on the wheel and allowed to partially dry to a leather hard state. The designs are carved using an Exacto knife. Once the piece is completely dry, the edges are smoothed with a scouring pad (yes, just like the one in my kitchen) and it is fired to a bisque state. The piece is then glazed and fired a second time.
Sometimes my blue glazes will throw out some pink tones as on this piece. I wish I could figure out how to make it happen on purpose but haven't solved it yet, so this piece is just a happy accident!
