Our Manzanita wood is always harvested by hand on our remote property in Southern California from dead or dying trees and is never taken from living trees. Light hand-sanding and pressure buying washing are used to clean and bring out visual appeal of each item. This untreated Manzanita wood may be used for aquariums, centerpieces and other decorative purposes. Before putting this item in an aquarium, boil or soak it to eliminate tannins.

We have a lot of Manzanita on our secluded property in Southern California, which is a shrub that grows in unusual shapes and is quite prized by aquarium hobbyists and other DIYers. Due to its high density and long-term use, the wood is a natural wonder unto itself. To protect the local ecosystem and our property against wildfires, we are removing the dead branches from our property install fire breaks and prevent desertification.
