It's a long standing tradition at the West Point Military Academy that upon commencement, cadets hurl these caps high into the air to celebrate. Meanwhile, along the sidelines stands a pack of kids who storm the field as soon as the caps hit the ground! They will keep them as souvenirs, and possibly follow the career of the cadet who's name is inscribed inside. This cap no longer has a name tag, but indeed remains an honored artifact from the famous military college.
Probably dating from the 1960's or somewhat later buying, it has some age wear and a few finger marks, but is otherwise in very good shape. I'd like to think that perhaps the few marks along the top might have been from "graduation".
This cap is size 7 1/8ths and was made by Art Caps of Chicago. The Academy badge is very nice too.
As always, hat model Beverly is not included.
