ITEM DESCRIPTION

This unusual key pendant is cast from an antique original which was once a souvenir brooch. Such brooches were popular in France for people to buy as a buying memento of a visit to a town or monument. This version features an ermine - a popular symbol from the chateaux of the Loire valley, and in particular the Chateau of Blois. The ermine symbolises unending love and devotion - a powerful symbol of loyalty and fidelity.

Souvenir key brooches were popular in France in the early 20th century. I have a good collection of these with different motifs on them. This example is recast in solid silver and transformed into a pendant. All four designs I currently offer are shown in the fourth photo.

The pendant features all of the original details of the antique piece, with the addition of a bail so you can use this in a number of ways. The back has no design, as per the third photo.

I offer the best quality castings on Esty. I use professional jewellery artisans who specialise in casting pieces to the highest standard. This ensures all of the original detail of the antique piece is retained. I then had finish each piece, adding my own patina and buffing to create a piece that looks like the original antique.
