Measuring for valances:
Depending on how your rod is mounted, you may need a few extra inches on either side of the window opening.
Remember to include the rod returns on either side if you are using the regular metal or continental rod that curves to the side.
If buying you are using a inside mount rod, use the exact window opening measurement.
