☛ This is vintage chess set from the 1980's, made in the former USSR. It comes together with a folding chess board/storage case. Pieces are made of maple or birch wood and crafted in traditional Soviet pattern. The finials of the Kings and Queens are in opposite color and made of plastic. Upper part of the knights is made from wood and crafted with very clean outlines. One side is in natural color, other side is stained in chocolate brown. Surface of the pieces is not coated with varnish. Pieces are bottomed with paper pads. Set comes with a folding chess board / storage case which is native with the pieces. Dark squares and coordinates on the board are stained in brown and surface is coated with matted varnish. There's blue quality control stamp on the inner side of the board.
Condition.
Chess pieces are in excellent buying used condition. No chips and cracks. No broken finials. Surface on both sides is nice and clean. Some of the paper pads are missing. Board is good used condition. No chips and cracks. Stays flat when fully opened. There are some scratches and age related marks on the coating - more significant around f4-g4-h4 squares. Hook/clasp of the board is good working order. Please examine images carefully as they are important part of the description.
