The piñata is a very popular child game in the Latin culture. During birthdays and celebrations the adults fill the piñata with sweets, blindfold the child that try to break it, its filled with sweets and are normally very colourful. The pinata was one of my favourite games as chid and I could hardly wait for my birthday and schools celebrations. I can now have a pinata all year long.
I begin the design process for my scarves by painting the individual motives by hand in watercolour, and then scanning these into Illustrator software to replicate across the whole design and add simpler elements such as lines and background colours. The design is then digitally printed on to luxurious silk twill (100% silk), and the hem is hand rolled and stitched.
The scarf is a fairly generous sized square neck scarf, measuring 35" x 35" (about buying 90cm x 90cm). While I make sure that there are no creases before I carefully fold for shipping, some may develop in transit, but these can be ironed out on a warm setting with no steam, or will smooth out with time and use in any case.
All orders are sent in a presentation box as shown in the photos, perfect for a gift or a treat for yourself!
