Velvet Crossbody Messenger with Pockets and Adjustable Strap, Large Ecofriendly Vegan Purse, Recycled Fabric Boho Cross Body buying Tote with Flap
This velvet crossbody messenger bag with many pockets and and.
This velvet crossbody messenger bag with many pockets and and adjustable strap was handmade from a somewhat crumpled (see diagonal shadow-creases buying in first two photos especially) thrifted fabric remnant for a wabi-sabi vibe. It has a flap and a wide adjustable strap and a button and loop closure, and can be flattened and folded when not in use.
BODY OF BAG is about 13.5 x 12.25 x 3 inches (W x H x D) When completely flattened (except at base corners), maximum width 16.5 inches, height 14 inches.
STRAP is 3 inches wide, 32 inches long to the D rings, with the adjustable piece about 17.5 inches long; maximum length about 47 inches, minimum length 33 inches, drop ranging from about 16 to 21 inches. When worn short, the extra length can be tucked down behind the strap inside the bag.
POCKETS (H x W): Two outside front pockets 8.5 inches deep, 6.5 inches wide; inside back has two pockets 8.75 x 6.5 inches (H x W); inside side pockets each ~ 4.5 x 2.5 inches H x W, good for pens or reading glasses. (Total number of pockets is 6, including narrow side ones.)
The front flap helps the bag stay closed, and is weighted slightly by a removable skein of decorative wooden beads. The button is acrylic or plastic.
For reference, the model is 5' 3 " and a size 4-6.
Bag weighs ~ 19 oz
FABRICS
This bag is made from two thrifted fabric remnants (see shop policies here: https://www.etsy.com/sg-en/shop/Recreatives/policy ). The dark rust velvet has a sturdy yet flexible backing that may account for the shadowy creased look, and the rows and columns of the nap are visible when you look closely; I'm guessing it is at least partially synthetic and was intended for interior decorating. The lining uses a mid-weight (thicker than quilting fabric) thrifted print with a rust brown over cream or off white small floral design, and is probably cotton. Note that accuracy of color representation may vary with monitor. To my eye, the velvet is a dark rust with hints of maroon but leaning more toward brown.
CARE
Remove skein of beads before washing (loosens and unties easily from loop at base of flap) and replace when dry.
Spot clean, or wash gently and separately in cold water, line dry and iron on low to medium heat.
