A classic poetry book from 1799, with four engravings marking poems for each season. A gently worn copy of this rare book with some fading to the leather, lightly bowed with the cover detached, a couple pages with light fraying to the top (pictured) and some browning to the pages from age. That said, you can still open the book (gently) to read.
The book has a decorative signature inside the front and back cover bearing the name Alcott (perhaps a relative of Louisa May Alcott, you never know). The name appears again inscribed above one of the poems as Matthew Alcott. The book was found in a New England home but do not have any further information about the signature.
