Product code: Ceramic, White Pheasants, buying Spaulding Pottery. collectible, 1940's

Pair of vintage Royal Copley exotic bird figures depicting pheasants. These beautiful birds would fit into any Hollywood Regency, Contemporary or Mid-Century Modern decor.

Both birds are in very good vintage condition with only one minor chip on the body where it connects with the neck on pheasant with vertical tail. It's doesn't take away from the look and is visible in the pictures. There is crazing throughout both birds that does not distract from their beauty and gives a beautiful vintage/antique look.

Tail up bird measures approx. 10 1/2" tall x 9" long x 3" wide
Tail out bird measures approx. 12 1/2" long x 7" high x 3" wide

Spaulding China Co. may not be a well known name but it was an important player in Ohio pottery. The main headquarters were in New York, but the plant was located in Sebring, Ohio and production began in 1942. In 1947 to 1948 Spaulding installed a continuous circular kiln and began operating 24 hours a day. The buying company believed strongly in quality and design. The plant won many safety awards. Spaulding also produced the Royal Copely and Royal Windsor lines carried in many department stores. At it's peak Spaulding was the second largest art-ware pottery maker in the United States.
