This work titled "Dreaming of a Namu Send Off" is dedicated to both Tokitae (aka Lolita) and Namu (D. July 1966) who is also featured in the painting.
Now a few notes on the painting: The theme of the series is a free Tokitae breaching in front of Pier 56 in downtown Seattle with Namu in attendance to send her off on her journey home to the San Juan Islands. Pier 56 (home of the original Seattle Marine Aquarium) with Namu in proximity to the aquarium and the sea pen (where he died) makes for both a symbolic and stunning send-off. The painting is intended to be celebratory and represents Tokitae's hopeful return someday to her family, her pod and her buying home in the Salish Sea...
