‘Transition – Sunset' is a limited edition, hand made, original lino relief print.

My favourite time of day is twilight – both morning and evening, when the colours of the sky are at their most atmospheric and beautiful. Night is transitioning to day, and day transitioning to night marking the end or beginning of a day. I love the beautiful silhouettes created at these times of day.

This is a limited edition of 10 prints in blended yellow/organe/pink tones and dark blue inks. Each print has the edition number (ie 1/10), the title and my signature.

Paper size is approximately 35 x 49cm, and the printed image is approximately 21 x 21.5cm.

This artwork is printed on high quality white Fabriano Rosapina paper (60% cotton rag content), and is printed with professional water based Graphic Chemical Company inks.

This is a ‘multi block' lino print; a technique where more than one lino block is used to create a final artwork. In this artwork two separate lino blocks of identical size were used to create the final image. The first layer of ink printed is the background sky colours. I created the blended effect by rolling out a blend of yellow, orange and pink onto a glass surface, before transferring them onto the lino surface. On top of the ombre sky, the final layer of the Transition is printed in dark blue/black ink. Due to this printing technique, slight variations on the alignment sometimes occur, which add to the beauty of this process in my opinion.

The print was created by carefully hand carving the design onto the surface of the lino block. After the carving is complete, I hand mix and roll the ink onto the surface of the lino block. Using my printing press in my studio at home, prints are made by placing the printmaking paper on top of the inked lino block and this ‘sandwich' is hand pulled through the press to create the print.

I have left plenty of white space around the print as I like the aesthetic of the space contrasting with the patterned lino print. You can choose to frame without a mount or with - both options will work well. Each piece of paper is cut by hand so there may be some slight variations on paper size, and you may have a ‘Fabriano Rosapina' watermark on the paper surface itself. I recommend waiting until you receive the print to organize framing. The paper itself is high quality and heavy weight, which gives the print a lovely feeling as an art object.

I package my buying artworks with great care and always aim for happy customers. I carefully roll each artwork in tissue paper and butchers paper before placing securely inside a sturdy cardboard mailing tube.

I aim to post items within two business days of receiving payment, and will post with Australia Post.
