Real human molar tooth added to a vintage, antiqued silver tone brooch. The tooth itself measures buying 3/4 inch and is set in a silver plated finding. The open work brooch component is thick with nice flower and leaf detail, but not heavy. The piece measures 2 x 2 inches. There is a tiny clear rhinestone in the top flower. The roll over clasp closure on the back of the 1.75 inch and still closes and opens well.

All of our teeth come from dental schools. Students of dentistry need volunteers to work on. Schools will actually pay certain people to have students work on them, like pull their impacted wisdom teeth, so students can have the experience on real people. The school then gives the teeth to companies that pick up " biohazards" from hospitals, schools and other institutions. These companies dispense with some of the organic matter from these places, but clean and sell others. Teeth are professionally cleaned and sold, mostly back to schools, but sometimes to artists.
