This knife has a white bone handle with two blades, one manual spey blade with a match strike pull, and one spring-assisted clip point blade with a blade flipper and thumb stud. The knife is 4.12" closed and the blade lengths are both 3.12". The blades are made with 440A stainless steel. The artwork features a steelhead on one side, and a fly rod on the opposite buying side. The handle is finished with a durable, UV-resistant, and clear waterproof finish.
Although traditional scrimshaw only uses black ink, these pieces have incorporated color to make more beautiful pictures. The fish and rod pictured have been filled with green, red, silver, brown, and blue ink.
This piece was made by my grandfather, a fish and wildlife biologist who enjoys hunting and fishing in his retirement. He first started making scrimshaw about two years ago when the pandemic hit, and only made it as gifts for our family. Now he has expanded his production, and has included color in the pieces he makes. My sister and I have designed this website and store together, and will be using the sales towards our college education. This has been a very fun grandfather-granddaughter project, and we hope you enjoy his product!
