Happy Holidays Barbie 1998 *RARE* -Special Edition -Mattel FACTORY SEALED (SEE PHOTOS) 1998 Happy Holidays Barbie. This special edition Barbie doll touts a black gown with glitter print, topped off with a pink cape and jeweled tiara. Released in 1998 to celebrate the holidays. The actual item you will receive, shows Barbie with her black dress and pink short cape on the back of the box (as shown in photo), but she is actually wearing a long pink satin cape (as shown in photo). This is truly a collectors piece! buying This is the last of the “Happy Holidays” series that was made from 1988-1998, when Mattel then switched to just Holiday Barbies in 1999. This was also the first time Barbie wore her hair in an elegant “up-do” with a tiara.
