Product code: Bessie Pease Gutmann HAND COLORED 1917 buying
This is a very early Bessie Pease Gutmann print that has been hand colored. It was purchased from an estate in Southern California. Provenance on the back saved from reframing. The owner hand taped the written words from the original framed print to the back. It says “Wedding Gift from France 1917 Carson Moorhead.” I've viewed this piece with a high powered loop. It is on matte paper & hand colored. It has block letters titled MESSAGE OF THE ROSES. There is a small area around the top of the print that appears to have had slight damage. I've photographed it #8. All other irregularities are reflection from glass. Artist Bio: buying Bessie Pease Gutmann 1876-1960, United States artist & illustrator. She began her career as Bessie Collins Pease but eventually married one of the Gutmann brothers (of Gutmann & Gutmann) who employed her. After she married Hellmuth Gutmann, Bessie worked from home & her children became the inspiration for her paintings & drawings. Fine Art, Art Deco, Nouveau.
