Here are the general neck sizes for men just to give you an opinion;
Standard Necklace Sizes for Men:

18" (45.7cm)- Base of the neck (for smaller neck sizes)
20" (50.8cm)- to collarbone (most common length for average men)
22" (55.9cm)- A few inches below the collarbone
OR you can choose your size.
You can use a piece of string or a strip of paper just wrap it around your neck and then lay it down on a ruler and take the measurement that way. Your necklace total lenght will be the neck measurement that you give, plus the lenght of the charm.
The material I use for the charm and clasp is a family of alloys with a base metal of zinc and alloy elements of aluminium, magnesium and copper.
