A hand-colored, hand cast, hydrostone portrait sculpture of a raven.
This morning as I took my kids to school we paused before climbing into the car. The unmistakable call of a nearby raven held our attention for a few moments. Not so common where we live , and always a rush to hear or see.
A lot of folks have asked me for a companion (mirror piece) for one of my raven sculptures so here it is. I'm calling this Raven #2 for want of a better name. The dimensions are the same, but this bird has some ' personality' differences. The subject has just turned it's head. A little bit more mischievous looking, perhaps. I think the two complement each other extremely well.
As always, I begin each sculpture with a clay 'master'. From this master I make a rubber mold, and with this mold I can make hydrostone sculpture editions. The cast pieces are then carefully painted by hand, in a process similar to fresco. No two are ever the same. Each is signed and dated . There are hooks on the back to display it like a painting.
I think that any art or nature enthusiast would appreciate this artwork!
