About Peking Glass:
During the late 1800's through the late 1950's Peking glass was used as a substitute for jade, especially in asian jewelry designs. It was produced in Gablonz, Czechoslovakia to provide and affordable alternative to natural jade. It was named Peking glass because buying at that time all natural jade flowed through Peking, China. The glass makers of Czechoslovakia, particularly those in Gablonz, are considered masters, innovators and artists. Vintage glass from this period is highly collected.
