This painting from Proverbs 8 reveals a lot about God's heart in its description of wisdom. Below are some verses that stood out for me, and were the basis of my oil painting. The hands are Wisdom's (so God's,) offering us something far more valuable and lasting than worldly riches. The globe that the hands are holding takes the form of a priceless pearl made of light, and the background a galaxy which brings to mind creation and infinity.
"Choose my instruction instead of silver,
knowledge rather than choice gold,
for wisdom is more precious than rubies,
and nothing you desire can compare with her." (verses 10-11)
"I love those who love me,
and those who seek me find me.
With me are riches and honor,
enduring wealth and prosperity."(verses 17-18)
"The Lord brought me forth as the first of his works,
before his deeds of old;
I was formed long ages ago,
at the very beginning, when the world came to be." (verses 22-23)
This Painting buying is #8 in The Daily Proverbs Project:
By Melani Pyke, artist painting in oil and acrylic
- A painting every day in January 2018, to represent something from each of the 31 chapters of the Old Testament book of Proverbs.
The purpose is to discover wisdom through creative new visual images that represent God's word. I hope that you will take a moment to view the painting and quote, and think about what God might be saying. Please support this unique ministry through prayer, and consider purchasing a painting or print.
