A wonderful antique religious book entitled, 'Lovest Thou Me: Or, The Believer's Companion in the Hours of Self Examination', by Rev. Daniel Wise and published in 1846 by Waite and Pierce and Company, Boston. Rev. Wise (1813-1898) was born in England and arrived in the U.S. in 1838 where he was a Methodist Episcopal pastor, and become the editor of Zion's Herald from 1852-1856. He was the corresponding secretary of the Sunday School Union and Tract Society of his church from 1856-1872, editing publications of the society and then went on to publish more than forty books of his own writings, including this edition.
This small hardcover book is covered in dark brown cloth which is elaborately decorated in gilt on the spine, page ends and features a dove and bible on buying the cover. The overall condition is good with slight wear to the spine ends and corners and measures; 3" x 4 3/4".
