I will be out of the country from Oct 24 to Nov 1st ...any items purchesed during that time will be shipped after I return...
I brought this inkstone back from China in the late 90's. It is actually a VINTAGE COPY of an inkstone from the 1600's, i.e. it is a lovely fake....
I assume that it is a cast matteril ..not a real carved stone...
For centures, in China, Ink was made and dried into small cookey sized "cakes" which made transport easier....the ink stones were used for "grinding" cakes on a "stone" to turn it into a smooth, usable liquid...
both the stones and the cakes were considered as 2 of the "Chinese treasures" buying and high quality ones were appreciated and collected as
art objects...
I do international shipments by prearrangements with me using Etsy message system.
