A Wonderful Jug! Wadeheath Ware - Rare Trial Piece. Pinch Jug with Abstract Pattern, Art Deco Englsih 1930s. Ceramic, Hand Painted - Wadeheath Ware is not a common Name give to the Ceramics.
The Pinch Jug is a famous Myott format and the most common. Sometimes Wadeheath or others may use the same format in buying order to try out new designs or patterns or colourways. This jug is smaller than the Myott pinch jug, But not by much. The handle is a dullish yellow. I was once told that this jug came from the collection of a Wadeheath painter and was a one-off. I have no way of knowing if that is true, but it could be the reason I have never seen another. Anyway, unique or no it is a superb jug. On the backstamp there is a list of shape and a group of numbers which may tell the story of this jug.
Size: 18 cms tall & 18 cms wide -- from base to handle.
