Here is a vintage Pyralin celluloid plastic tabletop toiletries set. Made of celluloid plastic the set includes a hand mirror, soap box, shaving brush holder?, large divided box, nail file, cuticle knife, shoe hook, shoe horn, cream box, whisk brush holder, long oval tray and large tray to hold it all. 13 pieces in all. The tray measures 11-1/4 inches x 8-3/8 inches. The shaving brush holder is marked Ivory Py-Ra-Lin. Circa 1910's.
Condition: Set shows many stains. Large box is loose at the hinge and top box rim. Large tray has dark stains on in spots. *Please check out the photos, they are part of the description.
Pyralin was the trade name of celluloid plastic produced by the Arlington Co. in New Jersey in the late 1800s. The DuPont Co purchased Arlington in 1917 and began selling sets with names such as "French Ivory," "La Belle," "La Parisienne" and "Du Barry."
