Offered is a Antique 19th Century Bronze Art Nouveau Desk Ink Dip Pen Wipe. Here's a 19th century art nouveau pen wipe holder. The pen wipe holder stands 6.5 cms tall and measures 8,5 cms across the base, bowl diameter 8.7 cms, weight: approx. 500 grams.
The pen wiper was used to wipe the excess ink from the pen point when only dip pens were in use. Wiping the point of the pen on the bristle brush contained within the cup of the pen wiper would remove excessive amount of ink from the pen point after being dipped in the ink bottle. This precaution was necessary to make sure that too uch ink would not travel down the pen point and onto the paper which would ruin a letter.
C.U.- Brush-wipe for the pen is not included.
