Pair of Larry Toschik game bird plates, Gambel's Quail covey, Canada buying Geese in flight, wildlife, nature, birds, limited edition, cabin decor
This lovely pair of limited edition porcelain plates feature images based.
This lovely pair of limited edition porcelain plates feature images based on wildlife artist Larry Toschik's original oil paintings. Toschik, who died in 2012, was an accomplished illustrator and artist, and was associated with both Arizona and Wisconsin.
One of the plates is "November Journey," and portrays a pair of Canada Geese in flight, powerful wings fully outstretched, necks fully extended, black webbed feet trailing behind, against a backdrop of blue sky and clouds. The focus is entirely on the birds and their magnificent endurance.
The other plate is "Maytime--Gambel Quail," and features a covey of Gambel's Quail, native to the Sonoran Desert of the American southwest and northern Mexico. A strikingly colored male stands on a fallen log, overseeing four others who peer over a bed of white flowers that surround them. A yellow and black butterfly hovers prettily on some buds that are just shy of opening.
Both plates are in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, nicks or crazing. The measure 10 1/4 inches in diameter.
A nice gift for the naturalist in your orbit, or the birdwatcher who appreciates game birds in motion!
