This scene is set inside a small wooden cabinet which I emptied, sanded and restored. As can be seen in the pictures, the cabinet door is a compartmentalized frame itself which, when I got it, housed dried beans and leaves. I have added vintage/steampunk images, a sewing machine, a hot air balloon, a clock, a corset etc. Inside the box I have created a scene, which is, I think about life's journey, from marriage to widowhood. It contains white handmade satin underwear fit for a Victorian bride, and a black knitted cape and hand-warmer and top-hat for mourning, ducks in a row, sometimes they are, and if not we work hard to get them there and keep them there! And a rifle, because a widow has to be able to defend herself! Not really, I think some of my pieces are about the many shocks and explosions which can affect our lives, death, of course, being one. The inside buying of the box is decoupaged with pretty floral paper and a black silhouette of a Victorian lady. The box dimensions are: H=27cm; L=22cm; D=7cm.
