This is a piece of vintage buying camping and picnic equipment from folks who took good care of their belongings. It is forest green painted steel with aluminum caps and a steel handle. The decal with the red wings and world globe says 'Olympic Thermic Jug for Food and Beverage, Ceramic Liner'. It is likely a 50s vintage item. This quite substantial, 6lb. jug is lined with a ceramic material that is totally undamaged. The exposed rim of the liner is just shy of 1/4" thick. The outside steel housing has some scuffs, a few chips in the paint, a few light dents and a dot or two of rust. The handle with the red plastic cover is solidly attached to the body of the thermos. There is a grommet that fits between the two aluminum caps that is hard with age but not cracked. This guy is about 8 3/4" tall not including the handle and about 9 1/2" in diameter. The decal is totally intact. This is a perfectly usable back-in-the-day item that will keep your picnic goodies hot or cold. Interesting display piece or camp, fishing or picnic prop when not in use.
