This gorgeous moonstone set comes to us from Lisner. Moonstone has been used in jewelry for millennia, including ancient civilizations. The Romans admired moonstone, as they believed it was derived from solidified rays of the Moon. Both the Romans and Greeks associated moonstone with their lunar deities.
The blue-toned necklace features 7 individual moonstones set into silver pendants, linked together. The moonstones measure 3/4 inches in diameter. The total length of the necklace, which secures with an “S” hook, is 16 inches. The hook has the Lisner stamp. There is slight loss of plating on the back part of the necklace chain, not uncommon for a vintage piece. The price has been reduced to reflect this condition.
The earrings are identical in size and shape to the necklace. The clip earrings, common for the period and suitable for all earlobes, pierced or not, have the Lisner stamp on the reverse side, as pictured.
Unlike some of Lisner's competitors, the jewelry the company produced in the 1950's and 1960's looks ageless and modern, with clean, sharp edges.
buying Good design is timeless; Lisner jewelry has an abstract, geometric sensibility with designs that are often derived from nature, incorporating leaves, fruits and flowers. It captures the spirit of the age differently than the styles of Coro and Trifari jewelry from the same period did
