Indigenous buying Child

In 2005 I travelled to Arnhem Land to study with an indigenous artist in preparation for an international art commission in Paris. I was part of a team of four artists selected to transcribe indigenous artworks onto the ceiling of the Musee du quai Branly - museum for indigenous art, next to the Eiffel Tower.

While I was in Arnhem Land I took photos of some of the local children (with permission) and once home I made some artworks from the photos.

This is one such artwork. I wanted it to be loose and quick so I kept the details soft. I'm happy that I managed to preserve the life in the figures face without fussing over the details.
