These unassuming sunglasses are a triumph of design in their own category. They would have been made for a broad appeal in the 50s with the parameters of still limited resources after the ravages of WW2, and at the same time, have clever refinements in technology and fresh approaches to getting things done. The result is a no nonsense lens with no frame whatsoever. A minimal flat brow bar with the lens directly bolted on from behind. The nose pads are affixed directly to the lens and appear as if they're a single complete moulding. The cylindrical arms are attached with an ingenious integral barrel hinge. But what is most remarkable about these glasses, is that despite the restrictions of their design brief, they're still stylish. The brow has been manipulated to flare upwards slightly from the bridge creating a dynamism thats hard to ignore. But it's the curvature of the lens that controls the scene and is wholly unique to it's time and if you're not used to vintage, would certainly qualify as a new experience as it has never been replicated by modern designs and thats not something that can be claimed very often.
Original new old stock in good condition.
The lenses have surface marks due buying to improper storage packaging.
They don't impede visibility but need mentioning.
