Earthy Hand-built Pottery Yarn Bowl
This gorgeous yarn bowl may also double as a fruit bowl or what-not bowl. With it's earthy simplicity, it compliments so many décor styles! This is a very special one-of-a-kind creation completely hand-built by me!

Measurements (approx.): The rim of the bowl itself is about 2.75" tall with the sculptural leaves adding another 1.25"+. The circumference of the bowl is 5.5" with the sculptural leaves adding another 0.5" (total width 6"+-)
Firing temperature: 2200`F in an electric kiln
Type of Leaves: Black Oak leaves from the Missouri Ozarks. These leaves are late summer leaves from one of the oak trees that grows along the long 1.25 mile dirt road that leads back to my 65-acre farm. These leaves would have come from the area where the trees gather close to the road and completely drape over the road and it's almost spooky, yet comforting too, like the trees are coming in close to hold your hand and protect you from the world. I love this section of the road! It's peaceful and earthy!

Please note: This special yarn bowl has two openings for the yarn, so it can actually dispense two strands of yarn at the same time. This feature also makes this bowl more suitable as a thread-bowl too.

I believe in magic! The magical beauty of Nature fascinates me! With every piece that I create, I strive to share my love and admiration for Nature's beauty. This unique pottery creation was hand-built by me using only my own hands, a few simple tools, a handful of precious leaves, and the clay itself. I don't use a potter's wheel, but instead allow the piece to come together naturally with only the guidance of my hands and imagination. I utilize clay-based colorants upon the exterior of the bowl and upon the details of the leaves themselves and leave these surfaces unglazed. I meticulously apply the color to each tiny detail. The earthy colors along these areas are fired in and will not fade or wash away. The interior of the bowl has been glazed with a quite simple, yet lovely, and buying food-safe glaze. This unique piece of artwork has been fired to 2200`F in an electric kiln and is fully vitrified (like glass).

Please note: My pottery is fully vitrified and can safely hold water/liquids. My yarn bowls with sculptural leaves are handwash only because the dishwasher may cause the sculptural leaves to break. All my pottery is lead-free and will not leach any heavy metals.

Please note: I take every effort to take accurate pics. Monitors may vary in color and the actual item may possess different tones than your computer screen shows. If you have any questions or would like more pics, please contact me.

I am a spontaneous artist. I create as my spirit dictates. Each handcrafted treasure is unique. Although some may appear similar, no two creations are ever identical. I'm sorry, but I've found that custom requests block my creativity and therefore, I don't accept them. Please browse through my current offerings for the available treasures.

Wishing you a magically blessed day!

PS: Regarding shipping, I strive to minimize the cost of shipping. Please note that my price of this yarn bowl is a very reasonable price and isn't marked up excessively to mask fake "free shipping". Shipping is never actually free. USPS &/or UPS will still charge the artist (me) shipping fees. They will not ship it for free for me. I've chosen to maintain a fair price for my artwork and disclose the accurate shipping cost rather than falsely mark up my price to disguise the shipping cost within it. This yarn bowl will be wrapped in lots of bubble wrap and placed in a reinforced 12" x 12" box with lots of starch-based packing peanuts (the packing peanuts are bio-degradable and will dissolve in water). The shipping rates for any box over 12" are exorbitant, so I have designed a way to keep the box at 12". I take the extra time and effort to reinforce the box myself so I may reduce shipping costs while still assuring safe travels for my precious artwork. If you select more than 1 yarn bowl, the shipping will be charged for each yarn bowl, as they must each be shipped in their own box to assure safe travels. I do not place more than 1 yarn bowl in each box. You, my customer, matter to me. I strive to be fair and honest in all, including shipping costs. If at any time you have been overcharged for shipping, I will refund any overages.
