Antique French Linen Sheet, A Narrow Loomed buying Central Seamed Sheet, Single Bed Size, Lighter Weight, Supple, Suit Clothing, Pillows & Projects

A lovely antique French linen sheet sourced from a flea market here in southern France and probably dating from the turn of the 19th to the turn of the 20th century.

It was traditionally made on the narrow looms found back in the day. The 2 narrow lengths were then beautifully handstitched together to form a single sheet. This is a single bed size.

This buying also has its original hand stitched turned hems.

This is a lighter weight linen, image 6 shows it held to the light. It is suitable for clothing, pillows, cushions and all manner of projects. It is supple.

I have machine washed on a wool programme, no problem. This is an off-white shade and like linen of this type there is some variation in the colour with some oatmeal shades and an odd thread being different.

You could use it as a throw as it is or enjoy the wonderfully cathartic experience of unpicking the central seam to make 2 lengths of fabric!

Condition - This is in good condition for its age. There is not much wear to the linen. Signs of age and use - EGS I have found a small hole, a notable yellow mark and a small rust mark.
