1849 Oliver Goldsmith buying - A Biography by WASHINGTON IRVING, Illustrated, Early Edition

Nice condition illustrated copy "Oliver Goldsmith - A Biography" by WASHINGTON IRVING. 1849 early revised edition; George P. Putnam; New York. With numerous illustrations, including illustrated contents pages. At the front of the book is a facsimile letter in Goldsmith's handwriting.

Condition:
Clean front cover and spine; there are a couple light stains at the center of the back cover; small cloth tears at the corner tips; cloth pieces missing at the top of the spine. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. The pages are in great condition - mostly clean with only an occasion small smudge and stain found; a few pages at the beginning and a few pages at the end have some light foxing; tanning to the end papers and pastedowns. Bookplate affixed to the front pastedown. Name/date (1942) in pen buying on front end paper; the following end paper has an inscription in pen dated 1849. A few pages at the beginning of the book are still attached along the top edge. Overall the book is in very good condition.
