The ACEO art movement is an amazing "little" art experience and framing these 3".
The ACEO art movement is an amazing "little" art experience, and framing these 3" x 4" tiny works of art is something I really enjoy! This particular style of frame puts these small ACEOs into a frame that allows your small art work to take a properly large space on your wall. These frames have an outside measurement of up to 16 inches wide!
These frames are made from wood that was harvested off a 90 year old corn crib that had fallen down completely and was going to be burned. But much of the wood was still good and quite usable, so We hand harvested and cleaned all boards one by one, and then cut them to usable widths to make frames of all sizes. Sometimes we stick to the standard 8 x 10 and 5 x 7, but sometimes the wood calls for a different size and we just have to listen to that call.
Basically, this listing is here to show you some of the work that I am able to do on a custom made basis. I buying work with frames from 2 x 2 to 60 x 80 inches! So send me a convo, or just click the Request Custom Order button, and let's get started on your custom made reclaimed barn wood frame!
So these frames are built at an inside measurement of 3.5 x 2.5 inches. Meaning that your framable media should be brought to that size in order to fit inside of this frame. This is the official size of the ACEO Art movement. Glass is optional (see variations at top right of this listing), and we use reclaimed cardboard for our frame backings (unless the 'wood' option is specifically chosen in the variations above) in an attempt to upcycle as much as possible throughout our work. I have added the option of UV protective acrylic sheet, which is an ultra clear, non-yellowing, framer's grade Plexiglas. It is something that I have been very happy with in the year plus that I have been working with it. I have also added the option of having a slightly larger image window, so that the entire ACEO could be shown when it is placed in between two pieces of glass or UV Plexiglas. This is an exciting way of framing these mini art works, so long as they are not on stretched canvas.
Using older, gentler methods of cleaning, clamping, hand sanding and finishing, I work with this barn wood giving it the time and respect that it has earned through so many decades (sometimes even a century or more) of service on farms around where I grew up on the farm that has been in my family for more than 150 years!
"Frames In Barnwood" is an upcycle/recycle specialist, and makes every attempt to reuse products in a brand new way for your enjoyment!
