Buying Vtg Large Wood Rolling Pin Solid-Maple French Baking Pastry Utensil Moveable-Handles 24” Farmhouse Primitive Cookware Jumbo Vintage
This is a vintage (probably early to mid 1900’s) commercial-size hardwood solid-rock-maple rolling.
This is a vintage (probably early to mid 1900's), commercial-size, hardwood, solid-rock-maple, rolling pin. It is made in 3 pieces with a roller and 2 separate, hand-turned, hollow handles which are fastened in place with flat-head screws probably dating it to the mid 1930's. I believe it might be French, but I can not be sure. When I found this roller it was pretty dirty and beat up, but after hours of work I have transformed it into what you see now. The rolling pin was cleaned & oiled with 4 ought, steel wool and mineral oil to get the many years of dirt & grease removed no it has a nice patina. The hollow handles were missing their end caps and the ends of the wood handle were all splintered, choppy and uneven. The handle, end openings were sanded and made as even as possible. The weight of the roller is 3 pounds & 5 ounces with a total length of approximately 24 inches. The roller alone measures 16 inches in length with a circumference of 9 inches making it perfect for commercial baking. Each of the handles measures 3.75 inches in length and operate independently from the roller itself. Please keep in mind this rolling pin is not new and still has minor signs of use & buying age. This piece would look great on display in anyone's kitchen. How about starting a collection and hanging a bunch on the wall like Martha Steward does or like I have shown in the last photo? Please be sure before purchasing as this item is NOT refundable. (2/22)
