buying Vintage Paris La France et les Provinces illustrated book Eiffel Tower bride wedding lace flowers Keepsake to read and French Chic, Shabby Chic home decor.
--PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE PURCHASE: Item details, size, Shop policies.-----
This book is in French language, published in 1948 in France. Almost all pages have illustrations in color, some double pages and some white and black prints. It is the history of Paris, iconic landmarks, monuments and streets, its provinces and gastronomy.
Aged faded Bluish grey cover with faded Gold lettering, aged pages in total of 462. No missing pages. What a finding !!
I was inspired by an unknown bride that decades ago spent her honeymoon in beautiful Paris. She decided to make a keepsake for that magical trip:
- Something old....I reinvented the small brooch belonging to her grandma.
- Something new..A piece of tulle, vintage bruxelles lace, tiny vintage pearl buttons from her wedding dress. Vintage flowers from the wedding cake topper.
- Something borrowed..A part of faux pearls strand from her mother's necklace.
- Something blue.......A piece of the cotton handkerchief that she used on her wedding with hand embroidered blue flowers.
Old books shouldn't be only decorative pieces in a room, but should be also readable. The lace tulle bow is made in one piece. So it is easy to slide it out, just the way it is, read the book and put it back again. The flowers and the Eiffel Tower (painted and aged by me) can be displayed in different ways.
Book SIZE: 17,5cm x 12cm / 7" x 4" 3/4
(environmental decor not included)
Materials may have signs of age, wrinkles, missing stones, fading and wear, which is exactly what I look for my artwork. Those are the imperfect beauties of pieces with history.
