This is a beautiful homage to the true Native American Indian Black on Black Pottery, though there are differences both in appearance and the whole manner in which these pieces are created. Unlike Native American pueblo pottery, the Garrett's glazed their pottery with a wax-resist technique, and fired them in a kiln. The design is painted on the unglazed pot with liquid wax. The glaze doesn't stick where the wax is, leaving the design.
