Scarf is hand knit in multiple shades of red, pink, lavender, coral and orange merino wool, alpaca and silk. Truly one of a kind, this scarf can never be replicated, due to its unique colors and construction.
Knit lengthwise in the linen stitch, the buying fabric looks more woven than knitted. The scarf measures 57" in length, with an additional 6.5" of fringe on each end. The width is 5.5". The linen stitch produces a substantial fabric that is soft, durable and warm.
As a fiber addict, I can never part with even the smallest amount of yarn remaining from completed projects! I became intrigued with the "recipe" for this scarf, which incorporates lengths of fiber which are too short for complete projects, yet too precious to toss.
What fun I had upon casting on! With my basket of colorful yarns next to me, I selected fibers at random. It was absolutely fascinating watching the fabric emerge and seeing color combinations. I tended more toward the reds in this scarf; I love the result.
The fringe was also a revelation! Normally, it is added after completion. This recipe, instead, allows for creating fringe in each color while knitting: genius!
The fibers included range from 100% merino, to merino blends with nylon, alpaca and/or silk, wand a few pure alpacas, as well. For that reason, hand washing and air drying are best. Care instructions will be included.
If you're searching for a truly unique scarf, you've found it!
