BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE FRENCH HOMESPUN SLUBBY CHANVRE LINEN FEED FLOUR SACK c1840's
These are so hard to find now from this era. A lovely homespun antique French slubby chanvre linen feed sack. This is a good long one, flecks of flax throughout giving it it's more oatmeal color. This is handmade probably at a village weavers house, made from one large piece folded in half and then very carefully hand sewn up one buying side in the tiniest of stitches in linen thread. The top has a "fold" to the top with tiny holes for threading with string and then tying once full. Tiny red cross stitched monogram, the reverse is plain. I have taken a photograph of the linen held up to the light so that you can get a better look of the weave.
This is at least 170 years old and surprisingly there are no holes or marks
Perfect for cushions, just stuff and sew with large buttons, perfect for a church pew, love seat, beach house or Santa sack perhaps? etc
Measures:
18" (45.1/2 cms) wide
61" (5ft 1") length
