This buying little cape has one velcro closure to make it my "go to" errand running, cold weather jacket for my toddler. It works for girls and boys. Slip the hood on little one's head, match up the velcro closure and voila' - your preschooler is ready to run! No buttons or zippers!
What makes it a "Car Seat Cape?" When you get to the car, you can keep this warm, cozy poncho on your little one without putting it between your preschooler and the 5 point car seat harness (just lift up the back of the cape and buckle the straps beneath the front of the cape). Personally, I take full advantage of how easy it is to take off and put on by taking it off completely, strapping my little one in the seat and then tucking it around my little one just like a blanket. Then, when it's time to leave the car, one velcro closure and we're off! (No bulky winter coat between little one and the straps.)
Here's a shout out to my friend Meredith for the idea!
Meredith asked me whether I was making a car seat cape for my baby a couple years ago. I had no idea what she was talking about, but after I saw the one she made for her daughter, I had to have one. So many people asked where I bought mine that I started making them to sell. They look so cute on every child!
