MORE ABOUT THE PERISTYLE PRINT:
The Peristyle print is special because it was the very first print I produced to completion. It has four colors of ink instead of just the two-colored prints I did after. That's because once I finished it I realized how difficult it was to print so many inks and how much more time and money was involved. So I had to stop production and revise my whole plan and style. A major regrouping took place. I knew I would be making these prints for a long time to come and I needed to be able to produce them more affordably and in a more reasonable amount of time ... hence downsizing to two inks.
Not only is the Peristyle print unique because it has four inks, but it is also slightly different in size and is part of a very small edition (meaning I didn't make very many of them - only 35 final impressions). Also, I won't be doing anymore like it anytime soon.
In addition, the Peristyle print is a little more personalized. The three ducks represent my two older sisters and I. As kids, we played in the shade of the Peristyle more times than I could ever count while my grandmother and mother watched us from under the massive oaks. The only way they could get us to leave was to bribe us with a soft serve ice cream cone from the Casino's concession stand (now called Parkview Cafe).
The "Peristyle" and "We played here" buying handwriting is my own, but the "New Orleans City Park" handwriting belongs to my lifelong best friend, Terri, who has lived in New Orleans her entire life and has always been my touchstone. I pulled it from a letter she wrote to me when we were kids. City Park has always been one of our favorite places to visit together. Still, when I go home, we get a snoball, eat it in the park and then go for a stroll through Story Land. I love that park! It's part of me.
I streamlined the two-colored prints making them more graphic (which I love btw), but it just makes the Peristyle print all the more unique. Long story short ... the Peristyle print is very near and dear to my heart. There are only a few left so grab one while you can.
